SynthCluster s.r.o. was established in 2009 as a privately owned company with focus on synthesis of carbohydrates. In time, we have expanded our product range of monosaccharides (protected, partially protected, activated, fluoro, amino, thio, azido etc). We also have gained strong know-how in scaling up production to kilograms.

In 2015 we obtained the ISO9001:2008 certificate for the following scope: research, development and production of chemical specialities-certificate No.: Q-0771/15.

Our laboratories are located within the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava and are fully equipped for synthesis of specific chemicals in scale from grams to 100's grams.

If there is a need for larger quantities, the kilo lab is capable of manufacturing carbohydrates in scale of 10's kilos. It is equipped with glass, glass-lined and stainless steel vessels in volumes of 30 - 250 litres as well as columns for large scale chromatographic separation. For some carbohydrates, we also use biotechnological procedures and we operate in volumes up to 1m3.

Although our expertise is in production of monosaccharides our chemists have extensive backgrounds in organic synthesis and are ready to face new challenges in custom synthesis of new compounds suited to our customers' needs.

The key members of our team have a range of skills and expertise:

Jozef Višňovský, managing director
Studied at Comenius University in Bratislava and gained more than 20 years of experience in production of chemical specialities and carbohydrates during his appointments at Drug Research Instutute Modra and later in custom synthesis companies - Q-chem Ltd. and CMS Chemicals Ltd. During the latest appoitments he was the head of research and development department. Current roles include large scale (hundred kilos) synthesis advisor.

Peter Gajdoš, senior chemist
Has obtained his PhD from Comenius University Bratislava focusing on heterocycle chemistry after he graduated at Cyril and Method University, Trnava, Slovakia.

Marius V. Câmpian, senior chemist
Has graduated and obtained his PhD from Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania were the main focus of his research was coordination, organometallic and supramolecular chemistry of metal xanthates. Then he moved to York (UK) for a post-doc appointment working on photo induced bonds activation by metal complexes. In 2012 joined our company switching to carbohydrate chemistry.
